Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is the forth most common procedure with 200,924 procedures performed, an increase of 21 percent over 2006

Kuruvi’s audio launch was held today at the Little Flower Convent in Chennai sans the usual fanfare despite the buzz surrounding the movie. The low key affair, held in the school for hearing and speech impaired, witnessed minimal star participation.

As a novel attempt, the audio was released to senior journalists from renowned dailies like Daily Thanthi and The Hindu. Gangadaran from Daily Thanthi and S.R. Bombay (1995) is an award-winning Tamil feature film drama directed by Mani Ratnam, starring Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. The film met with a strong reception upon release.

The film is centred on events, particularly during the period of December 1992 to January 1993 in India, and the controversy surrounding the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. Increased religious tensions in the city of Bombay (now Mumbai) led to riots. Shekhar (Arvind Swamy) is the son of traditional Hindu parents. He is studying journalism in Bombay and returns to his village where he comes across Shaila Bano, (Manisha Koirala), a Muslim schoolgirl. The story revolves around their relationship in the midst of religious tension.

The film caused huge controversy upon release in India and abroad, for its depiction of inter-religious relations. Well received critically and commercially, it was screened at many international film festivals including the Philadelphia Film Festival in 1996 where it was an audience favourite.

The film was banned in Singapore, Pakistan and Malaysia upon release.

In July 2005, a book on the film was published by BFI Modern Classics, looking at the film's production, the several issues it covered, and its impact upon release in India and abroad.[1][2]

It was subsequently dubbed in Hindi and Telugu.

Kamal replaces Vikram in Mani's next????

Mani Rathnam has finally made it to the talks. A few weeks back it was confirmed that Mani will be doing a love story with Abhishek and Aishwarya in the lead roles. Vikram was expected to play a cameo in the movie. But, on second thoughts, the role seemed to suit his old friend, ally and genius, Kamal. After Nayagan it has been a long wait for Kamal fans as well as movie lovers. Mani had explained the role to Kamal and it seems that Kamal loved the role and signed the movie at once. The role will be short and sweet, but just the fact that Mani called on Kamal to do it suggests that the role will be something very special, something ‘Kamal-worthy’.

This movie will be an urbane love story showing the problems that newly married couples face, Alai Paayuthey-like, but yet different. Music, no doubt will be courtesy Rahman and so we have another chartbuster in early 2009 for sure. But the biggest news now is that of Kamal’s entry into the project.

Krazzy 4 case has been finally settled in court. There was an accusation on the part of Ram Sampath that the Roshans had lifted his tune for Sony Erricson in their latest venture Krazzy 4. Ram filed a suit against the Roshans at court, and the Roshans were found guilty at court. There was an evidence against the Roshans which was an SMS sent by Hrithik to Ram. The SMS said that even he was against plagiarism and asked Ram to forgive his dad. Ram demanded a sum of 2 Crores for copyrights. Ram finally got what he wanted and Krazzy 4 is all set to be released today.

Nepali, the new venture of Bharath has been given an A certificate by the Regional Censor Board. This action/thriller movie will have Bharath doing three roles. One will be a yoing man, the other a prisoner and the third one will be a Nepali. A few gory scenes have been axed by the censor board. Sources said that the movie has three stories running in parallel. Meera Jasmine plays the heroine of the film along with actor Sangeetha.

Govind Namdev from Mumbai is doing an important role in the film. Srikanth Deva has composed music for the film. The dialogues are penned by Pattukottai Prabhakar and the camera is handled by Mathi and the story, screenplay and direction are by Durai.

Finally, it seems everything has fallen in place. Bommarillu Bhaskar who is presently directing Parugu with Allu Arjun been entrusted to the job. Sources inform us Vikram is impressed with the basic script narrated by Bhaskar.

This film will go to the sets in July this year and it is produced by 'Chatrapathi' Prasad. Producer Prasad is very close to Vikram and whenever Vikram lands in Hyderabad, he uses Prasad's car to roam around. Shreya Saran, the heroine of Sivaji went on a visit to the Tirupathi temple for Ugadhi. As usual there was a big mob in Tirupathi. Shreya after finishing her "Darshan" was waiting near her car when suddenly a mob started molesting her. Though she struggled for some time to get out of the melee, the police had to intervene to disperse the crowd and see her safely out.

Bollywood music directors have recently been involved in plagiarism scandals. Thanks to a wesite called itwofs.com, the tunes which the indian music directors are inspired from or lift in their works are mentioned. There were quite a few names such as Pritam, Anu Malik, etc who were even interviewed in a TV news channel regarding this plagiarism issue. The latest to join the list is Rajesh Roshan. The latest film Krazzy 4, which has been among the talks is why the Roshans are involved in plagiarism scandal. A song in the movie called "Break Free" is reported to be a direct lift of Ram Sampath's music for the Thump ad for Sony Ericcson. Ram Sampath found this out when he first listened to the song in a music channel. Ram Sampath has allegedly filed a case against Rakesh Roshan, the producer of the movie and Rajesh Roshan, the music director of the movie. Ram says that the music director blatantly has used his tune without even mentioning his name in the credits. Ram demands a compensation of about 2 Crores from the Roshans. Roshans however defend themselves by saying that they hadn't done anything intentionally. Interestingly for both the videos another member of the Roshan family i.e Hrithik has lent his dance performance. Will this put an end to plagiarism or will plagiarism still find its excuses?? Chak De India fame director Shimit Amin, has decided on his next venture. It is speculated that it will be a romantic film with the latest chocolate boy of Bollywood. Yes its none other than Ranbir who is recently often among the talks. Amin is so impressed by his work that he requested Aditya Chopra to cast him in his next film. Dilli 6 script still a secret!!!!

Rakeysh Mehra's, director of Rang De Basanthi, is too secretive about his next venture. Dilli 6 which is his next project stars Abhishek Bacchan and Sonam kapoor in the lead role. For months, there has been speculation on the plot and synopsis of the film.

Finally there is a news that it is a semi-autobiographical which is based on the early life of the director in Delhi. It is rumoured that it is related to the monkey man episode that happened in the capital a few years back.

A source working on the project throws light on the steps Mehra has taken to make sure the plot of the film doesn’t leak outside. There is only one copy of the hard-bound script for Dilli 6 which Mehra carries with him at all times. There are no copies of the script. The assistant directors and the other team members don’t have one either. Mehra wanted to ensure no one but he and his actors had access to the plot.

To prevent piracy what the director has done is he has entered the entire script into an e-book, which is considered as a digital copy and it is said that the director has it saved in his computer.The source adds that while shooting, Mehra doesn’t discuss anything more than the scenes of the day. This hasn’t gone down well with his crew.

Nayanthara's new face...

There is another news regarding the movie Sathyam. As i said in my previous post that Nayanthara will be playing the female lead in the movie in which vishal will be her pair. From the previous post you will be knowing that she playing the character of a television journalist in the movie. There are other important facts as well.

Nayanthara will be trying her hand at comedy for the first time. She is playing the role of her lifetime in the film. Though Sathyam is a hardcore action film, Nayantara appears in most of the frames and has a couple of song sequences laced with an action sequence too.

Nayantara, has attempted and succeeded to a large extent in comedy in this film. She plays the role of Deivalakshmi, a reporter with a local TV channel. Padikadavan stalled....

After Yaaradi Nee Mohini the next venture of Dhanush is Padikadavan. Like other movies in Kollywood this movie has also started facing its problems right from the start. The shooting of the movie was stalled, the reason being the film has run into a ban by the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) on the first day of its shooting.

FEFSI had received a complaint against Dhanush from Gemini banner telling that Dhanush had promised to offer them his dates after yaaradi nee mohini. But instead Dhanush started Padikadhavan. The shooting of the movie has been temporarily stalled till the issue is resolved.

It has been almost 4 decades since a Pakistani movie has released in India. Khuda Ke Liye broke this fast when it got released in India this Friday.

Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor's debut venture, the film has been released in more than a hundred cinemas in 20 cities across the country.

The film stars Pakistani actor Shan and model Imam Ali along with a special appearance by Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah who has played the role of a Muslim cleric.

The internationally-acclaimed film deals with the story of two pop musician brothers in Lahore. One comes under the influence of fundamentalists, while the other brother goes to the US, where he is held by the police due to his Muslim name.

Following the 1965 war, Pakistan outlawed all Indian films from being screened there and that was followed by a similar ban in India. Recently, two Indian blockbusters -- Aamir Khan's "Tare Zameen Par" and Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer "Welcome" -- were released in Pakistan.
Film-maker's in India termed the release of "Khuda Ke Liye" in India as a "historic occasion".

While shooting for Vaaranam Aayiram near the Gateway of Mumbai, it was reported that an incident took place which made a 1.5 crore loss for the team. R u wondering wat happened??

It was reported that the cameraman had a camera worth 1.5 crores tied around his waist.While the assistant was moving behind the actors canning the shots, he tripped unexpectedly and in the tumult the camera broke to pieces. It is also said that the assistant suffered severe head injuries and was admitted to a hospital. However, everything ended well with shooting resuming a day later with a similar type of camera.

Bollywood has always been a place for clashes. If it was Om Shanthi Om vs Saawariya during Diwali then its surely Krazzy 4 vs U Me aur Hum. This is the latest clash as far as Bollywood is concerned. This Friday will see the clash of these two Titans. Both movies have had excellent promos considering the pre-release publicity.

Krazzy 4 seems to be a movie which falls under the comedy genre. The safest thing to do will be a comedy genre. Rakesh Roshan is directing the movie and there is no need of any mention about the star cast when Shah Rukh and Hrithik names are involved. The film is expected to open with a decent collection.

On the other hand Ajay Devgan's venture U Me aur Hum is of totally different genre. U ME AUR HUM looks like a handy mix of drama, love, romance, tears and light hearted moments which would make family audience, especially ladies, warm up to the film. Music too is certainly going to play a major part in the film taking a good opening since Vishal Bhardwaj's tunes have been performing consistently well at the charts ever since the music hit the stands.

Lets see who wins the race. Does ShahRukh end up on the winning side once again?? We will soon find out..

An eagerly awaited ARR project "Dilli 6" is getting ready and is in its Post-production Stage. Rakeysh Mehra and ARR, after their mindblowing Rang De Basanti is all set to recreate the magic again.
The public may be expecting a lot from 'Dilli 6', from the maverick director Rakeysh Mehra after the super success of his first film 'Rang De Basanti'.

The lead roles are played by Abhishek Bachan and Sonam Kapoor. The shooting was wrapped up last Friday. The film mostly shot in Rajasthan now enters the post production stage.

Sonam Kapoor will be hoping the film to be a big success after the bad fate of her first film 'Saawariya'.

Mehra had to spend much time to find the hero of this film. He had tried to get Hrithik Roshan for the main man, but eventually zeroed in for Abhishek. Sonam Kapoor is quite lucky to be cast as the heroine as a hit can do wonders for her in the B-town.

Rakeysh Mehra was not without his share of worries as his first assistant director during the shooting had to move out to U.S. due to personal reasons.

Aamir khan after knowing about Rakeysh's crisis wanted to be his assistant but could not because of his dates being taken by 'Gajini'. So Kiran Rao, Aamir's wife and an assistant director in 'Lagaan' went ahead and helped Mehra.

Rayeksh Mehra has been very much impressed by Kiran's work and was heard praising her work and initiative during his crisis.

However Gautham temporarily halted the shooting of ‘Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam’ to concentrate on ‘Varanam Aayiram’ starring Suriya.

Now that ‘Varanam Aayiram’ is nearing completion, the director is keen to restart ‘Chennaiyil Oru Mazhiakaalam’.

Tamil New Year Releases!!!!

2008 Tamil New Year Releases (April 14), is going to be a significant this year. Four movies are confirming their releases with the theatres. They are Yaaradi Nee Mohini on April 4, Nepali on April 10, Santosh Subramaniyan on April 11, and Arai 305il Kadavul on April 12. This way of films not releasing on the same day will get the benefit of opening day collections. The trade is also not very sure of how the IPL Twenty:20 matches to be played between 7 to 10 PM in the evening between April 18 and June 1 and televised live on Sony Max will effect the summer box-office. Please note that the live cricket coverage clashes with prime time cinema business of evening and night shows, which account for nearly 70 percent of the box-office collections of any film. So this time the Tamil film industry is playing it safe and trying to release the films a week before the IPL tournament. As usual all the four films due carry good pre-release reports, and if they live to their hype then it will be a glorious summer.

Yaaradi Nee Mohini

Plot Summary:
The simple story line of the film is : Dhanush a middle class boy trying to get into a job but nothing turns positive to him, his father, a school teacher blaming dhanush as useless and irresponsible boy. Karthik kumar and Karunaas are the close friends to Dhanush. At this juncture, Dhanush fell in love with Nayanthara at first sight, Nayan working in a software company, luckily Dhanush secures a job in the same company. For an assignment Dhanus, nayanthara, manobala and another colleague going to Australia, there our hero express his love for nayan, but she rejects his wish. Raghuvaran ( Dhanush Father ) after seeing his son in a depressed mood, meets Nayan and recommend for his son’s love towards her. But nayan refuses his request and by accidentally slap him. On the same night Raghuvaran dies in heart attack. Karthik Kumar’s sister in law is Nayanthara and their marriage was already a fixed one. In a period of time, nayan realize that she loves Dhanush and how the love birds unites is the story.

Plot Summary:
The film primarily revolves around a father and son relationship with the father's dote on his son ironically leaving a bitter taste with the latter. The son's choices and his wants to achieve something in life are always subdued by his father's. The father has a justification in the form of his dream, that is to build a dream house . When it comes to his son's marriage, the son breaks his shackles of respect only to experience the newly found independence. The film concludes with the father's repentance on his foolishness and the happy marriage of the protagonists.

Dasavatharam audio on 25th April!!!

Dasavatharam has been the talk of the town since the name of the project was announced. This Kamal-KS Ravikumar combo have been involved in the talks since the day 1 of the shoot. An finally the time has come for them to celebrate. The audio release of Dasavatharam will take place on 25th April. Earlier it was said that the audio will release on 2nd of April. But the date has been postponed to 25th.

This ostentatious event will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium wherein Martial arts exponent Jackie Chan will be releasing the first audio cassette. Leading glitterati of the glamour world are expected to grace the event along with Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi and Vijay. Industry whispers reveal that a stage just like the Oscar Award ceremony stage is being erected and unit hands are working hard at this. This event is sure to be a star-studded affair.

Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta walked away from the sets of "Horn ok please" today. "Horn ok please" is a Nana Patekar starrer in which Tanushree was asked to do an item number. Tanushree who already has done some item numbers was quite pleased to accept the offer initially. Later she realized that the steps didn't suit her and asked the director to change the steps and said that if not changed she will back out. Nana Patekar said that he would be calling up the media if she doesn't do this item number. Tanushree got wild at this and she had to leave the sets. Little did she know that the media was waiting outside and in order to catch in with the news they didn't allow her to go. She was not in a position to explain anything to the media and started moving out in her car. One of the media persons blocked the car and his camera got hit by the car. There was full commotion out there but somehow she managed to escape. It has been found out that Rakhi Sawant would be doing the item number.

With the cast and crew almost decided for the new Shankar-Rajni venture ROBOT it was reported that Bollywood Actress Aishwariya Rai Bachan will pair up with Rajni for this venture. Vaaranam Aayiram delayed!!

Oscar Ravichandran seems to be on the receiving end of almost all the delayed projects. Following Dasavatharam's delay two of his other movies like Aayirathil Oruvan and now Vaaranam Aayiram have been delayed. Earlier, Gowtham Menon wasn’t able to complete the shooting of Vaaranam Aayiram due to the financial problem. Finally, it was announced that the film will be released for April 14 and now the release date has been postponed.

But Surya has confirmed in an interview that the shooting of the movie isn't complete and that 20 days of the shoot is still left. So the troubles caused by Oscar Ravichandran may see his curtains closing from Tamil Cinema.

ShahRukh Khan has always been in the topics. Now its time for him to appear in the cricket controversies. He is a man of words. SRK's new contender is none other than Mithun Chakraborthy. After the launch of King Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders team for the multimillon dollar Indian Premier League (IPL), rival Zee-promoted Indian Cricket League (ICL) has roped in Mithun to be the franchisee owner of one of its sides Kolkata Tigers.

Shah Rukh bought his IPL team for $75 million. It is not yet known how much Mithun paid for his team, which has Craig Macmillan as captain, Lance Klusener, Rohan Gavaskar and Upul Chandana among others.

Mithun admitted his son of the soil image would win him some additional votes from cricket buffs. But beyond that, he did not wish to go into any comparison with SRK.

Gowtham Menon is well known for his unique personality of deeply getting inspired by Hollywood flicks. Apart from his maiden film Miannale, all of his other presentations revealed of his Hollywood intakes in all aspects: dialogue delivery, narration of script, screenplay and designing characterizations. There was a rumour that the blockbuster movie Sivaji- The Boss will be dubbed in Hindi and will be released. After the success of Sivaji in the north director Shankar and the entire crew decided that they would dub the movie in Hindi and release it. It seems that the dubbing work is over. Sources say that director Shankar is quite happy with the dubbing. the script in Hindi has worked out well this time around unlike Nayak. While the producers contemplate who should get the distribution rights, they are looking for someone who can buy the movie lock, stock and barrel for the Hindi release. They promise that even the dubbed version of the movie is as spectacular and as entertaining as the original. The Hindi dialogues have been fitted perfectly and the dubbing is absolutely seamless.
With Ar Rahman scoring the music for the Hindi version as well Bollywood fans are waiting for the soundtracks. Will Sivaji sustain its success in Bolywood. Lets wait and see.
