2008 Tamil New Year Releases (April 14), is going to be a significant this year. Four movies are confirming their releases with the theatres. They are Yaaradi Nee Mohini on April 4, Nepali on April 10, Santosh Subramaniyan on April 11, and Arai 305il Kadavul on April 12. This way of films not releasing on the same day will get the benefit of opening day collections. The trade is also not very sure of how the IPL Twenty:20 matches to be played between 7 to 10 PM in the evening between April 18 and June 1 and televised live on Sony Max will effect the summer box-office. Please note that the live cricket coverage clashes with prime time cinema business of evening and night shows, which account for nearly 70 percent of the box-office collections of any film. So this time the Tamil film industry is playing it safe and trying to release the films a week before the IPL tournament. As usual all the four films due carry good pre-release reports, and if they live to their hype then it will be a glorious summer.

Plot Summary:
The simple story line of the film is : Dhanush a middle class boy trying to get into a job but nothing turns positive to him, his father, a school teacher blaming dhanush as useless and irresponsible boy. Karthik kumar and Karunaas are the close friends to Dhanush. At this juncture, Dhanush fell in love with Nayanthara at first sight, Nayan working in a software company, luckily Dhanush secures a job in the same company. For an assignment Dhanus, nayanthara, manobala and another colleague going to Australia, there our hero express his love for nayan, but she rejects his wish. Raghuvaran ( Dhanush Father ) after seeing his son in a depressed mood, meets Nayan and recommend for his son’s love towards her. But nayan refuses his request and by accidentally slap him. On the same night Raghuvaran dies in heart attack. Karthik Kumar’s sister in law is Nayanthara and their marriage was already a fixed one. In a period of time, nayan realize that she loves Dhanush and how the love birds unites is the story.

Plot Summary:
The film primarily revolves around a father and son relationship with the father's dote on his son ironically leaving a bitter taste with the latter. The son's choices and his wants to achieve something in life are always subdued by his father's. The father has a justification in the form of his dream, that is to build a dream house . When it comes to his son's marriage, the son breaks his shackles of respect only to experience the newly found independence. The film concludes with the father's repentance on his foolishness and the happy marriage of the protagonists.

Dasavatharam audio on 25th April!!!
Dasavatharam has been the talk of the town since the name of the project was announced. This Kamal-KS Ravikumar combo have been involved in the talks since the day 1 of the shoot. An finally the time has come for them to celebrate. The audio release of Dasavatharam will take place on 25th April. Earlier it was said that the audio will release on 2nd of April. But the date has been postponed to 25th.
This ostentatious event will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium wherein Martial arts exponent Jackie Chan will be releasing the first audio cassette. Leading glitterati of the glamour world are expected to grace the event along with Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi and Vijay. Industry whispers reveal that a stage just like the Oscar Award ceremony stage is being erected and unit hands are working hard at this. This event is sure to be a star-studded affair. |

Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta walked away from the sets of "Horn ok please" today. "Horn ok please" is a Nana Patekar starrer in which Tanushree was asked to do an item number. Tanushree who already has done some item numbers was quite pleased to accept the offer initially. Later she realized that the steps didn't suit her and asked the director to change the steps and said that if not changed she will back out. Nana Patekar said that he would be calling up the media if she doesn't do this item number. Tanushree got wild at this and she had to leave the sets. Little did she know that the media was waiting outside and in order to catch in with the news they didn't allow her to go. She was not in a position to explain anything to the media and started moving out in her car. One of the media persons blocked the car and his camera got hit by the car. There was full commotion out there but somehow she managed to escape. It has been found out that Rakhi Sawant would be doing the item number.

Aish demands 4 Crores for Robot!!!!
With the cast and crew almost decided for the new Shankar-Rajni venture ROBOT it was reported that Bollywood Actress Aishwariya Rai Bachan will pair up with Rajni for this venture. There were reports earlier that Aish wasn't keen on doing this role but later she agreed to it. Maybe she had a plan to demand more and it is now reported that Aishwariya has demanded a whopping 4 Crore to act in Robot. Vaaranam Aayiram delayed!!
Oscar Ravichandran seems to be on the receiving end of almost all the delayed projects. Following Dasavatharam's delay two of his other movies like Aayirathil Oruvan and now Vaaranam Aayiram have been delayed. Earlier, Gowtham Menon wasn’t able to complete the shooting of Vaaranam Aayiram due to the financial problem. Finally, it was announced that the film will be released for April 14 and now the release date has been postponed.
But Surya has confirmed in an interview that the shooting of the movie isn't complete and that 20 days of the shoot is still left. So the troubles caused by Oscar Ravichandran may see his curtains closing from Tamil Cinema.

Mithun vs Srk in the Cricket Field!!
ShahRukh Khan has always been in the topics. Now its time for him to appear in the cricket controversies. He is a man of words. SRK's new contender is none other than Mithun Chakraborthy. After the launch of King Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders team for the multimillon dollar Indian Premier League (IPL), rival Zee-promoted Indian Cricket League (ICL) has roped in Mithun to be the franchisee owner of one of its sides Kolkata Tigers.
Shah Rukh bought his IPL team for $75 million. It is not yet known how much Mithun paid for his team, which has Craig Macmillan as captain, Lance Klusener, Rohan Gavaskar and Upul Chandana among others.
Mithun admitted his son of the soil image would win him some additional votes from cricket buffs. But beyond that, he did not wish to go into any comparison with SRK.

Sivaji will speak Hindi soon!!!
There was a rumour that the blockbuster movie Sivaji- The Boss will be dubbed in Hindi and will be released. After the success of Sivaji in the north director Shankar and the entire crew decided that they would dub the movie in Hindi and release it. It seems that the dubbing work is over. Sources say that director Shankar is quite happy with the dubbing. the script in Hindi has worked out well this time around unlike Nayak. While the producers contemplate who should get the distribution rights, they are looking for someone who can buy the movie lock, stock and barrel for the Hindi release. They promise that even the dubbed version of the movie is as spectacular and as entertaining as the original. The Hindi dialogues have been fitted perfectly and the dubbing is absolutely seamless.
With Ar Rahman scoring the music for the Hindi version as well Bollywood fans are waiting for the soundtracks. Will Sivaji sustain its success in Bolywood. Lets wait and see.

Bips-Dhoni Pair up??
Bollywood Actress Bipasha Basu's was found with none other than the Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni recently during the premiere of the movie "Race". MS Dhoni has the habit of going around with Bollywood heroines. First it was Deepika Padukone and now it is Bipasha. After the screening of the movie Bipasha and Dhoni emerged together from the theatre. Those who saw them come out chatting, guessed that they were seated together inside. They looked very comfortable with each other as they walked out of the auditorium. They also left together in Bipasha’s car.
It is speculated that Dhoni is a good friend of John Abraham and in his absence had offered to give company to his girlfriend. Has Bipasha developed an interest towards sportsmen. Earlier it was Christiano Ronaldo, or has Dhoni developed interest towards heroines!! Soon we will find that out!

This may sound a bit old to all the Kollywood fans!!! This was the look which Surya had in the movie Ghajini. However for Bollywood fans this might be new!! This is the new look of Actor Aamir Khan for his new venture Ghajini. This film is named Ghajini in Hindi too. The director A R Murugadoss who directed Ghajini in Tamil is the director for this movie too. AR Rahman scores music. With all the big names involved in the movie this movie is already the buzz of Bollywood!! According to sources the movie is slated for a Gandhi Jayanthi(Oct 2nd) release.
Lets wait n watch whether the movie really lives upto the expectations...

The next album by ARR was in Tamil.. The name of the album is "Gentleman" which got released in the year 1993. Gentleman (1993) is a Tamil film directed by S.Shankar, released on the 13th July, 1993. The film marked S.Shankar debut in film, and with the highest budget for an Indian film in 1993, became a blockbuster upon release. It stars Arjun and Madhoo in the lead roles. The film's music (score and soundtrack) is composed by A.R.Rahman, and it was very well received upon release.
This was the start of Shankar-ARR combo which later went on to give many hits!!!

There was a news carrying that Abishek and his wife Aishwarya would be joining hands with Mani Rathnam for a musical romance Hindi feature. According to the script, it has an important role that will be played by Vikram.
With the movie being bilingually made, the Tamil version is said to have Vikram in the lead role and Aishwarya Rai Bacchan starring opposite him in the female lead role. As with the role played by Vikram in Hindi, Abhishek Bacchan is expected to play that important role in Tamil…

Worries for Kanthasamy team!!!
The demise of Raghuvaran has had a great impact on Tamil Cinema!! It has had a greater impact on Kanthasamy as well!! Raghuvaran was doing an important role of Shreya's father in Kanthasamy! He had some parts of his role to be completed and so the crew of Kanthasamy is left dumbstruck after his demise!! It seems that Susi Ganesan had specially made the role for Raghuvaran. Who will replace Raghuvaran is a big question???
Whereas Raghuvaran has completed his role in Yaaradi Nee Mohini and this might be Raghuvaran's last movie if Kanthasamy replaces Raghuvaran by some other actor!!

Dasavatharam Delayed Again!!!
Kamal's much awaited Dasavatharam which was slated to release for Tamil New Year is now delayed.. Sources say that the real reasons for the delay are as follows...
With Kamal Haasan and K.S. Ravikumar striving with all their efforts in bringing out their best in Dasavatharam, producers V. Ravichandran and his brother Ramesh Babu has working in contrast.
1. It has been revealed that with the film getting planned to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, Kamal Haasan has dubbed only for Tamil.
2. Sony Music that has purchased the audio rights of the movie is completely disappointed with the fact that till now only 50,000 CDs are in order.
3. V.Ravichandran who exported the flick for computer generated graphic works to Germany hasn’t got the output. When approached them, they have replied they can get it completed only in the month of June.
4. The main cause for the delay of audio release is because that Jackie Chan has refused to fly Chennai during the first week of April, but at the month end. Apart from this, Ravichandran has paid Rs. 5 Crores as remuneration for Jackie Chan to get him here in Chennai to release the audio. The most funny part here is Kamal Haasan who has strived with all might in 10 different roles has been paid only 10 Crores and remember a man without effort getting half the amount.
5. Ravichandran has never discussed about any of the issue of audio release and film’s release date with Kamal Haasan and that’s a major blunder and carelessness on the part of Ravichandran.
Considering all this, the movie can be expected to hit the theatres only by May or possibly it may take even more time.

ARR's full Mp3 Collection
The next album of the maestro was released in the year 1991. The name of the album was "Set Me Free".
Set Me Free, the English pop album which recently flooded the market, was originally released six years ago. At that time, the credits read... music composed by A.S. Dulip Kumar and rendered by Shubhaa. Not surprisingly the album found no takers. Then Roja came along. The little-known jingle composer A.S.Dulip Kumar became music director A. R. Rahman. Shrewd business minds at Magnasound lost no time in printing brand new cassette-wrappers with Rahman's name and face prominently displayed on the front flap... and announced the release of the first international album by the whiz kid. Huge hoardings sprung up all over Chennai city, publicising the new album... obviously in a bid to capitalise on Rahman's current popularity. Madhav Das, the executive director of Magnasound, didn't even feel the need to confer with A.R.Rahman before releasing the album. "Why should I ask Rahman about re-releasing an old album with a new name? After all Rahman too changed his name without asking anyone, didn't he?" says Das. On the other hand, Rahman is livid. "I'm not ashamed of my old album. Neither am I trying to hide my past," explained the music director. But he wants the public to know that Set Me Free is a six-year-old album which was done as an experimental venture with singer Shubhaa. Magnasound, he feels, is wrong in trying to pass it off as a brand-new album. When Set Me Free, the album that has stirred up a hornet's nest, was released way back in 1991, only 8,000 copies of the cassette were sold. According to Magnasound, it's because people weren't ready for that kind of music yet.
Today anything with the name Rahman can turn to gold... which is why Magnasound has evidently flooded the market with 20,000 cassettes of an album that was once a non-starter. Set Me Free re-appeared on the store counters on September 26, this year. Within 48 hours, stocks were sold out throughout the city. Spurred by the response, Madhav Das has decided to go for the kill. Zee TV, Star Plus and all other satellite channels will advertise a 'new' pop album from A.R. Rahman. "I'm positive I will be able to sell at least two lakh cassettes," Das claims. "I'm also not guilty of cheating either the public or Rahman because I have the legal rights to exploit this album. And make it a Super-Duper HIT."
